The Tulip Story...

Once upon a time...

It is related that long ago the Ottoman Sultan dispatched troops to route an enemy far from the Imperial city. Soon his army was victorious, and to celebrate and mark its loyalty to the Sultan, it presented him with a gift from the conquered county - a flower no one in the royal Court had before seen - the tulip.

So taken with the flower's beauty was the Sultan that he made it a favourite in the Court, and soon its image was found across the land.

Today this and many other floral designs lost in history are found in many forms among the stylised symbols which form an integral part in the intricate patterns of Oriental rugs from the Bosphorous to Samarkand, and beyond to Turkestan and other points East.

Whether you are drawn to the simple, rustic designs and colours of the tribal and village rugs, or the intricate delicate and subtle ones of the finest workshop rugs and carpets, you will always find the tulip and many other floral motifs there to intrigue and delight you for years to come.

“A quality oriental rug lasts a lifetime; It is an investment in excellence; and art for floors”.
