"Zeigler" CHOBI KHAL MOHMEDI Caucasian GENDJE

Many designs passed down through the centuries no longer exist in their original weaving areas, but are being recreated in other areas, such as the Caucasian Gendje pictured above. Many of the rugs from Afghanistan and Persia (Iran) continue to originate in their original areas, reflecting the ongoing traditions from the same peoples who have been weaving them for centuries. To market demands producers will commission rugs as well, often incorporating colour and design changes to their own requirements.
